The NSW Industry Training Advisory Body (ITAB)

NSW Utilities & Electrotechnology Industry Training Advisory Board (ITAB) is an independent, not-for-profit skills, training, competency, qualifications, occupational standards, workforce development & careers advisory body.

We specialise in consulting industry stakeholders, conducting experiential research and providing advice on national Training Package components, workforce development, skills formation, competency training and assessment, job design and work organisation, career opportunities and pathways in the energy-utilities and electrotechnology industry.

Careers in this industry provide career pathway opportunities for formally recognised qualifications in an array of Electrotechnology disciplines from Certificate I to Advanced Diploma.

Electrotechnology impacts on almost every aspect our lives. It has become one of the most exciting cutting-edge and rewarding career choices.

This sector covers Apprenticeships and Traineeships in Overhead Powerline work, Cable Jointing, Rail Traction as well as more advanced qualifications.

Electricity is increasingly impacting on almost every aspect our lives, as we rewire Australia’s electricity networks.

The Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) Generation sector covers traineeships for Power Station Operators in Certificate II & Certificate III in thermal and renewable energy. As well, apprenticeships in traditional engineering trades.

Huge changes are underway in the generation sector with new forms of energy aimed at meeting net zero targets.

This sector supports one Certificate III apprenticeship and one Certificate II traineeship, with additional qualifications up to Diploma and others under development within these levels.

The gas industry is an important and afforable alternative energy source that will assist in the transition to net zero targets.

If you are seeking specific information about a utilities and electrotechnology apprenticeship or traineeship please email our Executive Officer, at email – accounts@uensw.com.au.
