Electrotechnology:
The Electrotechnology industry in Australia includes design, commissioning, installation, testing, fault-finding, servicing, maintenance, assembly and repair of electrical, electronic, computer or climate change equipment, systems, networks and components. It extends across many industry sectors such as industrial, mining, energy, renewables, domestic, commercial, construction, data, communications, fire protection, security, manufacturing, lifts, maritime, as well as refrigeration and air-conditioning and more. New innovative technologies, automated and programmable control systems, digitisation, and information technology systems and equipment are reshaping the Electrotechnology industry, and it has become one of the most exciting cutting-edge and rewarding career choices in Australia.
Energy & Utilities Industry:
Gas Sector:
The Gas sector of the Energy industry in Australia includes the design, commissioning, installation, testing, fault-finding, servicing, maintenance, assembly and repair of gas transmission pipelines, gas distribution networks, gas cylinders and associated facilities and equipment. The Gas Supply, Transmission, Distribution and Gaseous Fuels industry provides vital services to Australian homes and businesses and often works closely with the electrotechnology industry to install components of the gas supply network. The gas industry is growing and driving enormous investments in Australia, contributing to the country’s economic growth. The increasing adoption of new technologies is transforming how we work. As well, aided by the growth of alternative fuels, such as hydrogen to support environmental sustainability and net zero strategies.
Electricity Sector:
The Electricity sector of the Energy industry includes the construction, erection, operation, maintenance and servicing of power generation, transmission distribution and rail systems and more. New innovative technologies, automated and programmable control systems, digitisation, information technology and emerging renewable energy systems and equipment encompassing solar, wind, hydro and alternative sources are reshaping the Energy industry. It has become one of the most exciting cutting-edge and rewarding career choices in Australia.

- The NSW UE ITAB participated in a Manufacturing, Agrifood and Electrotechnology (MAE) Career Pathfinders Project with a focus on promoting career options and opportunities for women in the respective industries. The project developed a series of up to date career information resources for a range of occupations in the MAE industries.
